Duties of Liturgical Ministries

ALTAR SERVERS (Servers’ Schedule)

  • Participate in practice sessions as necessary
  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to beginning of Mass
  • Assist priest in celebration of the Mass

CHOIR

  • Offer vocal and instrumental gifts with group at Mass
  • Serve as cantor and lead the congregation in song
  • Attend rehearsals every Thursday during the school year – 7:30 to 9 PM
  • Sing one choir mass at 9 AM or 11 AM on Sundays (alternating times)
  • As needed, sing for special occasions, namely Christmas, Easter, 1st Communion, and Confirmation

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

  • Assist with distribution of the Eucharist at liturgies
  • Take communion to those who are unable to get to Mass

LECTORS

  • Reflect on readings ahead of time (Readings are available here.)
  • In the event of optional available readings (multiple choices; long- or short forms), consult with the celebrant before Mass begins.
  • Proclaim the first and second readings
  • Read intercessions if no deacon is present

 GREETERS

  • Greet fellow parishioners as they enter and exit the church
  • Hand out bulletins and other material as needed
  • Prior to Mass, identify 2 people to present Offertory gifts

USHERS

  • Gather the collection for the procession of gifts
  • Organize the procession with gifts
  • Include basket of donated food at procession of gifts

Greeters and Ushers Duties

ALL MINISTRIES

  • Commit to schedule; arrange for a substitute when needed
  • Participate in training
